Here's to the future, folks!

So, the end of college nears... It's strange thinking about it, really, 15 weeks is a long time, but yet, it will come so quickly. Everything we've worked for, for pretty much the whole time we've been alive is nearing it's end. Of course, we still have a further journey to go. For some of us, we'd go to university, whilst others may go travelling, others might stay behind and start working straight away. But one thing is for certain... Most people we know now will soon just become a memory. We'll move on with our lives and we'll make new friends. Making new friends doesn't make me sad, but the fact that I will be losing everyone else does.

You would probably be reading this and thinking that if it really makes anyone that sad, then they could just keep in contact. But the truth is, it's not that easy. We'll all have our own lives, make new friends and even the best of friends can become people who talk once every two months.

I wouldn't mind too much if I had shit friends or no friends, but it's the fact that I probably know and have known some of the best people you could ever meet. I could probably still easily say that infants school was shit, lets be honest. Juniors school is something not really to care about, but it's high school and college where you meet the people that can change you as a person, good or bad. If I think back to all the good times that I have had with my friends, I can't help but smile, and it's probably the same for you.

It's not only the times in school/college that have been the best, but the times outside of them, too. But at the end of the day, it's because of school and college that I've had these great times. Hate it as much as you want, but I always think that if we never went to college, we would have never have met the people and had the experiences that we have had. Any time I watch American films, they always say that they try to forget their time in high school, but am I the only one that thinks it wasn't too bad? It's understandable that you'd have your highs and lows, but it was a pretty funny time (well for me it was, anyway).

For me, my whole group will be split. I have one staying in Luton, one going to America, two going university (both of those pretty far from here) and then me, still unsure of what I want in life. I'm forever thinking what my life will be like in 10 years time, but not just mine, theirs too. Will we all still talk? Where will we end up? Who will have a family? And it's sad to think that I may not be a part of that after college. I have had one of my best friends move to Scotland, who I still luckily keep contact and another who has slowly drifted and I wonder which way my friends will go. Could you imagine walking down a road in 10 years time, walking past someone who was a good friend and not even recognising them or knowing who they are? That's another thought that scares me.

I'm not saying that college is over now, but it will be soon, and I was just wondering if I was the only one that felt sad that it's only a matter of time before your closest friend or boyfriend becomes that person that you tell your child all about. All I know is that once college is over, I'm going to kick it back old style and hope to throw a good old fashioned house party with some of the best people I have met, drink to the future and thank for the time we've had.

Who knows where we'll be in 10 years time.

Updated wish list of clothing

It's that time of year again when I look in my wardrobe and I think, "Time to throw out a load of shit". The truth is, however, I'm too kind on my clothes. What I mean by 'kind on my clothes' is that I think about if I'd ever wear them again in the future, I then convince myself that I would and I'll end up keeping them (even though I hate them).

But when it comes to throwing out clothes, you have to replace them with more clothes! I have found a few things recently that I would like to add to my wish list. I shall not add LOADS to this list, otherwise it'd be going on for ages.

I'll start off with one of my favourite clothing shops, Topshop. With £80 worth of vouchers left to spend, I'm being really picky with what I buy (due to the fact that Topshop is expensive). But these are few things that I have found that have caught my eye:

"Check Denim Leggings"
Link
£25.00

I'm really into tartan at the moment for some reason. When I was younger I wanted to buy a pair of tartan jeans, but they were a lot brighter than this, I actually prefer these. What I like about these leggings is that they're not bright, they're a deep red, which would make it easier to find things that go well with these.

Topshop, £30

Another thing that I have been wanting for a while is this cropped knitted jumper. I'm not usually the sort of person who likes showing their belly because I hate belly buttons. Am I the only one? But there is something about this top that I love. You can get it in a load of different colours, but I'm going for a safe white because it goes with most things I own.

Topshop, £10

Finally, there is another crop top (surprisingly) that I found that I fell in love with and that is this green crop top. What I love about this top is how simple it is. It is a nice colour green and I like how the sleeves are, to me, it looks quite 80's style.

Amazon, £16.99

Finally, to add to the love of tartan that I seem to have, I would love, love, love to have a red tartan scarf. They just look so lovely and warm and they'd go with my coat (if you could call it that... It's super thin.)
I don't know if this scarf is for men or women, but to be honest, I don't care. A scarf is a scarf, it keeps you warm.

I will keep that as a short wish list for now. Personally, I feel that I have been doing well with my wish list! It's only four items! three of which I think I am about to buy. But I'm a girl who loves spending her money... Cut me some slack? Or try to help with my shopping addiction?

Anyway, now I have given you an insight to a few things that I have seen and think look pretty awesome, I think it's about time that I sort out my wardrobe?

Welcome to The Breakfast Club

"Dear Mr. Vernon,
We accept the fact that we had to sacrifice a whole Saturday in detention for whatever it is we did wrong, but we think you're crazy for making us write an essay telling you who we think we are.
You see us as you want to see us, in the simplest terms, in the most conventional definitions. But what we found out, is that each one of us is a brain, and an athlete, and a basketcase, a princess, and a criminal.

Sincerely yours,

The Breakfast Club."

First of all, if you haven't seen The Breakfast Club, I highly recommend you do so.

The Breakfast Club is about a group of five teenagers, all from different stereotypes who are stuck in a detention on a Saturday for the day. You would think that a film with a limited cast of only seven people, five, of which are stuck in a library together, would be a pretty boring film. You would be so wrong if you were to think that. The amazing direction that came from John Hughes, as he managed to turn such a simple storyline that was written in a fortnight (with the traditional stereotyped characters) into a 97 minute film, is totally worth watching.

Stereotyped characters used:
Jock, recluse, nerd, rebel and prom queen
Of course, if this were to be a modern day film they would need to add an extra two stereotypes to the mix: Hipsters and chavs.

Throughout the film, you learn more about the characters and you feel that you can relate to at least some part of one of the characters. It does, however, touch on certain issues. It isn't too strong as Hughes manages to make sure he keeps humor to the film whilst still keeping teenagers in a true light (unlike some films that make up the most unrealistic shit).

In many different films and programmes such as Easy-A, The Simpsons, Family Guy and One Tree Hill, etc... There are references to this film, and to me, that makes it so much greater, as it has affected other people other than myself.

One quote referring to The Breakfast club that I loved the most was Emma Stone in Easy-A, "I want Judd Nelson thrusting his fist into the air because he knows he got me. Just once I want my life to be like an 80's movie, preferably one with a really awesome musical number for no apparent reason. But no, no, John Hughes did not direct my life". What I love most about this quote is that I feel it relates to me, and I'm pretty sure more people out there feel the same.

As if the script and characters were not good enough, the music was a special add on, including the famous 'Don't You (Forget About Me) - Simple Minds'. If the music and the fact that I said it's great doesn't convince you to watch it, maybe this will? (click 'this')

In a normal Hollywood movie, a film usually has a happy ending, but with this film, you neither get your happy ending or your unhappy ending and that's what I find most satisfying. What I mean by satisfying is that almost every film has a happy ending, which people are unhappy about and an unhappy ending, which again, people are unhappy about. What Hughes does is show the audience the truth behind almost every teenager and brings the sad but true fact that even after a day of spending time with each other, come Monday, everything will most likely be the way it was before (see the film to understand what I mean), HOWEVER, how he leaves the film is for you to make up what happens on the following Monday. Does the nerd stay the nerd? Or has he found a good friend in the jock? Only you can decide.

“And these children that you spit on as they try to change their worlds are immune to your consultations. They’re quite aware of what they’re going through…” – David Bowie.

Freshly bought and well recommended items!

Whilst I sit here typing, I cannot help but look at my nails. That probably sounds odd, but when you have a new nail varnish, you can't help but keeping looking at your nails because your hand looks decorated! I don't mind not wearing nail varnish, but when you do have nail varnish, it makes your hands look so much better... Softer and younger (my hands look like they belong to an 80 year old woman).

So this brings me on to what this blog entry is about. I have recently received some new purchases that I would like to share with you all!

First of all, I have the nail varnish that I am wearing and am totally in love with.

Not matted!
This is 'Lilacism' by Essie. I took a picture wearing it (to the right), it looks matted but actually isn't, it's just the lighting.

I haven't worn it for long, but it has managed to stay fully on after a day at work, which is very good considering every nail varnish I have worn whilst at work has chipped to shit.

Priced at £7.99 I was debating whether I should buy it or not, but with a heavy sigh and the click of a button, I placed an order and I definitely don't regret it! You may be able to find it cheaper, but I couldn't be bothered to look around for it and therefore bought it from Superdrug.

Another nail varnish that I have ordered from Superdrug is another Essie product (Fiji) that I have yet to try on, but I hope it is just as good as the 'Lilacism'! Still priced at £7.99.

I have added 'Matte Finish' to give the 'matted look'
'Where is my chauffeur?'
As I am a big fan of nail varnishes, I decided to spend a bit more on Essie and decided to order 'Where is my chauffeur?' from ASOS. I can't actually find it online anymore, but from £10 reduced to £6 and free delivery, I found it hard to say no. I had this one on for a day (changed it so that I could try out 'Lilacism') and couldn't stop looking at my nails. The colour is amazing and it's not too much to clash with other bright items of clothing.

An additional 'must have' to my nail varnish collection is my Rimmel London 'Matte Finish'. It is my no.1 top coat for nail varnish. Simply paint your nails whatever colour, paint the matte finish over the top and BAM, you have yourself a matted look. I'm a sucker for matte look and this is just great.

Moving on from nails, the most common item that most girls love are shoes. I'm a great lover of shoes and when I saw these in Newlook, I had to buy them:
Proven to be most popular, online they have only size 8 left! These are such amazing shoes. I saw a customer try them on and they asked me if we had them in size 6 (Newlook, Luton store), I later came back to these shoes and had to buy them. Priced at £27.99 (50% off for me) they're not actually bad for the price. They're so comfortable and are easy to walk in, the straps securely hold your feet in and give your legs a lovely looking shape.

FINALLY, a product I have been after for a while has been MAC's Lady Danger lipstick. Priced at £14, it's quite expensive, but I'm a sucker for MAC and just had to buy it (£16 including P&P). I have yet to try it out, but I have previously bought a few MAC lipsticks and am forever getting compliments on the colour.
On a down note, after a good load of hours, the colour does dry up and you find yourself with a darker line around the top and bottom of your lip. MAC do sell other products that can stop this from happening, but I have yet to buy these and test them out.
The colour is a lovely, lively colour of red and I can see it suiting mainly blondes or darker haired girls/women (or men, if that's your thing).

That's all for now, hope to update on more freshly bought items.

Oh, life

Growing up is one of those things most people at younger ages wish to do, after all, at the age of 13 you feel like you are officially a grown up (little do you know that you're still a baby in others eyes). At the age of 16, it's your 'sweet sixteen', age of 17 you can drive, but then comes the best age of all (for us Brits) 18. The sky is the limit when you're 18. You can drink, get a tattoo, vote (I wouldn't), adopt, get a credit card, go clubbing... Sue someone... Be sued, get paid more! The list goes on.

Unfortunately, if you're from America, you cannot drink until the age of 21. Another reason to love Britain.

Whilst young people wish their lives away, the older people wish for more time. Life is full of ups and downs, some people find it harder than others. But the journey from being born to dying is an incredible one. Of course dying is one of those things that many fear, but I wont get into that.

I, personally am one of those people who 'wish their lives away', I don't wish to die, but I wish to be free. Something that I feel that I am not until I reach the age that law allows me to be free in comparison to all the rules I have to follow now. I know that the rules that we have to follow are not bad ones, they're ones that keep us safe, but some of them are pretty stupid and pointless. What's the point in having a law about legal consent for people of a certain age to have sex? Of course no one is going to go by that. You have sex when you want to have sex. But then of course you have those weird CHILDREN, YES, CHILDREN who have sex at the age of 11? I'm sorry, but the boy doesn't even have a deep voice, let alone a penis.

Rant over.

Some young people may never understand what someone of a certain age would mean by saying to 'enjoy your childhood', but being the age 17 means that you're too grown up to be a child, but not grown up enough to be an adult. It's a sucky age. I wish to be 18 and stay that way forever, but the truth is, we do grow up and things do change. I know I'm scared of growing up. After all, it does mean you're that one step closer to failure or success and it is something you'll only find out when you've hit that point.

Either way, life is life and as Forrest Gump said, "shit happens", but life still goes on.

Sorry if I seem like a downer,
Nikita xo

Is it just me that's doubting Uni? Or are you, too...

Whilst growing up, I've always wanted that one dream job that most others wish for, too; being an actress, well known. Of course, however, that is a rarity that most people actually make it to be the next big thing, which if you think about it, is quite sad. I'm one of those people that may want something more than anything in the world, but it will take me a lot to actually get up and do it. Acting is one of those things.

I understand that these days it's more about 'who you know' rather than 'what you know' and from doing Media, Music and Drama and Theatre Studies in college, it's made me think about taking a different route into acting. As I did not carry on Drama and Theatre Studies in my second year at college, I was left with one big chunk of Media and Music (music not so much cared for). The media industry is big. Simple. There are so many different areas of media that a person can get into, many of these I have considered, but the one I chose was television broadcasting.

The Devil Wears Prada
I was so sure at the time of my choice and I knew that it is what I wanted to do, but as the months moved on and I sent in my UCAS, I finally started to think of other choices and things I were interested in. One of the main interests I have is fashion. From watching films such as 'The Devil Wears Prada" and the series "Gossip Girl", it made me realise that a bag isn't "just a bag" or a shoes aren't "just shoes", but something that can transform a whole outfit and give it a new meaning. It can change a 'daytime' look to a 'going out' look, a 'slutty look' to a 'more preserved' look, and if fashion can do that, then why shouldn't I take an interest in it?

As I know that my love for fashion is growing, I need to think of different ideas for what I actually want to be in the fashion industry. Do I want to do fashion journalism? Be a designer? DESIGN WHAT?! Shoes? Bags? Clothes? Wedding dresses?
But I haven't done art or textiles at A-levels!?
Should I really rush into going university or should I take a year out, take a fashion course and then decide what I want to do?

Either way, I know that the moment I bought my first pair of Christian Louboutins, my thoughts about becoming a fashion designer started to develop further. It's funny how a pair of shoes can change your views.

So I've finally done it!

It's the same thing every year. "New year, new me!" The quote "It's the same thing every year" is the same every year too. So this isn't a blog to say how I'm going to change my life and make myself a better person, because tbh, I wasn't a horrible shit last year, nor will I be this year.

However, there is one thing I know I always say; "I'm going to start a diary!" And it's true... I do, however, a diary is usually something that is kept updated. I usually just forget to write in it or get scared that I will write things and then someone finds it and reveals all my secrets, like in the films... *anyway* I have decided that instead of having a diary which includes all my secrets, I will create a blog. This blog.

So I've finally done it.

I understand that this will probably be something that will be seen by at least 2 people every blue moon, but who cares? I think it's like an interesting challenge to see if I can actually keep up to date with this.

For now I have nothing else to say as this is only an introduction to pretty much say hey, how are you? Oh, and if you haven't guessed, I've finally created a blog.

As I shall be leaving you now, here's a picture that makes me happy. I hope it makes you happy, too.
