Time to be Healthy

In this 'modern age' most things are done for us, due to this, it is easy to be unhealthy. I for one, am probably the most unhealthiest person you will ever meet - without being the size of a house. An example of how healthy I can be:

Whilst talking to a friend about being unhealthy, it has hit me that having all those takeaways in such short space of time probably isn't the best thing to do (and by probably, I mean definitely). Unfortunately, because I am not 18 yet, joining the gym is something that I cannot do yet, however, in the mean time, I plan to eat at least one piece of fruit a day (it's a start...) and start swimming again.

Not only this, but to guarantee that I will join the gym when I turn 18, I will start up a gym membership today that will be effective from the 18th August (my birthday) in hoping that getting £15.99 taken out of my bank every month will encourage me to do it.

My plans on eating healthy and start swimming will start next week, due to the need of going food shopping to pick up fruit and a swimming costume, as well as getting over those girly days (enough said).

Any workouts or anything healthy to suggest?

New Purchase: Topshop Polka Shirt

Whilst at London for the Company Blogging Forum, shopping was a no.1 must, therefore, Topshop was on my list of 'must go'. As many of you (I hope) know, Oxford Street has a huge Topshop - "Topshop Oxford Circus is the flagship Topshop store in the United Kingdom and the largest fashion store in the world" - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Topshop

So, I'm having a little wonder around and I came across the cutest mint green shirt with white polka dots (100% polyester) that I have ever seen in my life.

The colour is really good for this summer and it isn't too thick, in fact, it is pretty breezy (if not tucked into something). It looks good with any sort of bottoms, however, it looks best with skinny jeans or leggings. It does look nice with a skirt, however, it does give it a bit of a '50's diner' look about it (which is good too, unless you're not after that 'look').

It would be fab for a BBQ or small event with friends in Summer. Highly recommended!

Afternoon at Company Blogging Forum

So, here it is... The post that you have (hopefully) been waiting for - my afternoon at the Company Blogging Forum.

As many of you know, I had recently purchased tickets to the Company Blogging Forum (which I was super excited for). For those of you who don't know what the event was, it was an event that would give fellow bloggers tips on creating a successful blog, the afternoon included hearing from the Company editor - Victoria White, along with Susie Lau (blogger), Rihannon Ashlee (fashion blogger), Sally Burlison (PR and Social Media Manager for OhMyLove), Roxanne Nejad (Boohoo), Krista Madden (managing director at Handpicked Media).

The day started with a shopping trip to London and then the quickest walk imaginable to make it to the event on time. After getting off of the underground train at London Bridge, it took a while to find the right direction to go in - left, right? Up, down? WHO KNOWS. Anyway, needless to say my friend and I made it to the event.

After entering 'New Hunts House' at Kings College London, I was given my free glass of bubbly token and began the wait with many other bloggers outside of the lecture theatre. After (probably) one minute of waiting, my friend decided to go up and redeem her glass of wine and after a few minutes of debating whether I should or shouldn't, I decided to get myself one, too - it tasted LOOOVELY.

Whilst talking to my friend, we were both approached by someone who works for Company Magazine and were asked to go outside with her to get our photographs taken. As I stepped outside of the university I couldn't believe my luck that I was one of the 18 people that were asked this and was debating whether to start giving out a thank you speech (I'm joking... I wouldn't do that). I was asked for my name and age and then walked out onto a nice patch of grass where Gem Fatale (features writer for Company Magazine) took my picture (only after we discussed the pigeon that was looming in the back dying to get a photo taken).

Not long after being back in the university, we were all then taken into the lecture theatre and listened to other bloggers (mentioned at the beginning of the post) talk about who they are, what they do and their experiences about blogging. They gave awesome advice on how to make a blog successful, and only towards the end of the night, I realised (after looking around and noticed others were doing it) that I should have taken note of what they were saying. If you would like to know what was said, say in the comments and I shall write up a post about it!

After the talk and questions were over, I plucked up the courage to go down and talk to Rihannon Ashlee (FashionRocksms) - who is my favourite blogger! I rambled on like a complete loony and she probably thought I was crazy, but oh well! I met her and spoke to her.

All in all, the day was awesome. I met lovely people and I definitely got all the tips that I think will be useful to my blog, however I will be keeping the same 'me' twist onto things to keep my blog personal and well... More, me. Finally, I thought I'd save the best till last, and that is...

Candy Kittens 'Pardy' Lolly

After a great day in London, I headed towards the Company Blogging Forum with a friend and waited to be let in to the lecture hall where we would listen to fellow bloggers talking about their experiences and giving tips on blogging. 

Whilst waiting, I was also given this awesome looking lolly and was told that I had the chance to be a guest blogger for Candy Kittens. There were three different lollies to choose from, one saying 'Pardy', another with 'CK' and another saying, 'Yea Boi!' 

As you can see, I chose 'Pardy', because you know, everyone loooooves a good 'Pardy' (hopefully I got the right idea in thinking it meant 'party' - if not, oops.)

I have heard of Candy Kittens but I didn't know much about it and so I decided to have a little snoop around on their website/shop (link to the site). 

All of the merchandise on the site includes something to do with the brand name 'Candy Kittens'. This means that you will see tops and jumpers with 'Candy' on it, or even their logo or 'Pardy'.

After looking around on the site, I found a few things that I thought looked cute, including the 'Candy Raglan Sweatshirt' in the picture above and this 'Neon Straw Print T-Shirt'.

Overall, I think that the clothes suit the theme and there are definitely some nice things, however, I feel that there needs to be more things to buy on the site (you know me - I love loads of clothes). The site is laid out very nicely and the colours suit the theme.

Blogger Update

(Written 24th June, 2013 - before I left for London)

As I lay in bed last night, I write out a list of things (in my head) that I've been planning to put into my blog (i.e. great haircare, skin care and sales). Most of these posts are in progress - I just need to add pictures, however, due to the fact that I am out to London today, I thought I'd give you an 'update post' in the meantime.

As you may have seen in a previous post, I was going on about how awesome 'Company Blogger Forum' sounded, and WALLAH! I have actually purchased two tickets for me and my friend, Maisie, to go.

Those of you who know me or read my posts obviously understand my love for London and that no trip to London (for me) will be successful without a shopping trip (and at least buying one item of clothing).

The Company event starts at 6.30pm - 8.30pm and so that means me and my friend get to spend the WHOLE day in London, how great!? We have loads of places in mind - mainly food places - and are planning to go to a heck loads of shops, because, hey... Why not? 

Sorry that this was only a short 'update post', but I thank you for reading it, anyway! You will be soon updated with how the day in London went (including the awesome event) SO KEEP AN EYE OUT!

Garnier Moisture Match

So, you may or may not have heard that Garnier has created 'Moisture Match' to help you (the public) be able to find the correct moisture suited to help your skin. The job is basically in the name; Protect & Glow, Start Afresh, Goodbye Dry, Wake Me Up and Shine Be Gone. The size of the tube is a pretty decent size (could be bigger) but it is most definitely enough to get a load of uses out of it. 

When I first saw this advertised in Company Magazine, I thought that it looked really cool and the main ones that caught my attention was 'Protect & Glow, Wake Me Up and Start Afresh'. Mainly because i like the idea of my face to have a healthy/fresh glow to it (not a greasy kinda glow).

Price: varies from 4.99 - 5.99

What the moisturisers are supposed to do:

Protect & Glow - "Skin looks more radiant, with a healthy-looking glow, and protected from the sun. The formula helps leave skin feeling hydrated for up to 24 hours."

Start Afresh - "A quick fix, for skin that always looks and feels its best. The formula helps to leave skin feeling hydrated for up to 24 hours"

Whilst in Sainsburys the other day, I thought I'd try out 'Wake Me Up and Protect & Glow' and I Wake Me Up'. I found that Protect & Glow never really sunk into my skin properly (even after an hour) and actually made it feel greasy, whereas 'Wake Me Up' does the job and makes my skin look more refreshed looking.

After applying 'Wake Me Up', the texture of my skin felt a bit funny once it has sunk in. It had more of a feeling as though I had a 'peel-off facemask' on at the 'ready to peel off' stage. This texture does go after a while and your face is back its normal self. I would most probably use another moisturiser to it a little while after, just to get more of a softer feel to my face - however, if it's a fresh looking face you're looking for, 'Wake Me Up' does the job. 

Of course, the moisturisers may have a different affect on your skin - so don't go by what I say. But if you are unsure on what moisturiser is best for your skin, then you can try the quick quiz online to see which would be best for you (CLICK ME FOR THE LINK)

All That is White

For those who love the colour white - I have good news...

White is the 'in' colour this summer! *cheers* with simple designs and a simple colour, white is perfect to give anyone a fresh glow this summer. From tops, to skirts, to dresses (still not a fan of white trousers) white can go with any other colour, including white itself (as in - white top and white skirt) that is, of course if you match the top and bottom half together well.

The top image is from a designer, 'Giambattista Valli', who is using the same design to show two different outfits - a dress and a crop top with matching skirt. I personally really like this outfit. With lovely curls and red lipstick; this would great for a day out (that is, if you don't mind getting an expensive dress dirty - I didn't thought so...)

White isn't always an easy colour to pull off, however, it is a flattering colour and to those who suit it, you should wear it.

Company Blogging Forum

 "To blog or not to blog?... if that's the question, our answer is, "Er, yes, please!"

 

 

Calling all bloggers - Company Magazine have yet again done 'the lovely' and have given us fellow bloggers a chance to meet other fellow bloggers and get advice from the best on how to make our blogs 'the next best thing'. Not only that, but you get to meet 'team Company' - that itself would give you good tips.

Unfortunately, you have to pay a price of £25 for tickets, but oh well! When you're getting advice for something which could be a potential career, then why not? Plus, with the goody bag and free bubbly, you'll be making your money back in no time!

So if you're 18 and would love a free glass of bubbly (not me - I'm not 18, boo) and would love to get tips, then go! I for one would love to, and if anyone in Luton would wish to accompany me - then I'd love you forever, because lets face it, I'd die alone in London.

Day in London

Half term isn't a proper half term unless I have a shopping trip to London - and a successful shopping trip, it was. Unfortunately, with every great purchase, more money is drawn out of your bank and for me, a lot was taken out that day... *weeps*.

By the looks of it, I didn't really buy much, however, the items I did buy were pricey (very pricey) and not only that, but I spent a lot of money buying presents for two friends who are 18 this month *cheers*.

As I have already mentioned 3, 4 & 5, I shall not talk about these items (other than the lipstick - 3). Other than that, lets start with the first item from Topshop. Number 1 is a beautiful Kimono from Topshop - I have seen this and have been after it for a while, but with a price of £55, it's easy to be put off. Luckily, being a student, I get 10% off.
Alas, the Kimono got the better of me and whilst in Westfield Topshop, I plucked up the courage and bought it. It has a lovely feel to it and goes with a lot of clothes (works best with white and black). No regrets.

Kimono // Skirt // Shoes

In my previous post, I said that I wanted a white and black striped satchel and I did actually buy it! However, when I returned home I found that it had the strap missing and had to return it - boo. There were no bags like that in any Topshop near by and so I decided to get the full white version (which is equally as nice) obviously, the minus point in this is that it is white and I will need to be super careful to make sure that I don't get it too dirty.

Finally, I thought I'd give a quick review on the lipstick. Firstly, the colour is awesome, would be great to make something simple a 'statement piece', it can be worn for any occasion, however would work best for a night out. Secondly, the colour lasts FOR AGES. The best Mac Makeup lipstick I have (for staying on the longest). Finally! Due to the colour, I would recommend not wearing TOO MUCH makeup otherwise it could start to make you look fake.
